How are you going to get to heaven?
Most people know one answer to this question. They say, "I'm going to heaven because I'm a good person." This answer is correct. If you are a good person (perfect) you will go to heaven.
But, based on the standards God will use on judgment day, are you truly a good person? When God judges you based on His standards, what will be the result?
The truth is revealed in the Bible. For example, Isaiah says that all your righteous deeds (those are the very best you can do) are like filthy rags to God. The Bible says:
Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
The problem is that none of us are good. We all have broken God's laws and we must pay the penalty. "The wages of sin is death." - Romans 6:23
So how does anyone get to heaven? How can you go to heaven?
Here's the Answer: recognize you've broken God's laws, repent* and trust that Jesus Christ has already paid the penalty you owe for breaking God's laws. It's a free gift from God. He paid you penalty so you will live forever.
"He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy..." - Titus 3:5
"Lord I know you must be coming soon and I'll stand before this world and shout it's true. I can't stop loving you no matter what they say." - Glenn Kaiser
*Repent means to change direction, and turn away from disobeying God. It means to desire to live your life so as to be obeying God.
